My name is Duc. I am the father of three boys and three girls. Before I got to know Christ, I was a Buddhist. The population of my village is about 300 people comprising 59 families. Only five of those 59 families were Christians at that time.

I had heard about Jesus, but I did not believe. Not until an evangelist named Tham came to our village to share the gospel in 2015. He said that God is the Creator who created us, and we need to worship him as our Lord. He explained that the things we were taught to believe in our childhood were not true. I received his message, and I learned to know the truth. In July 2015, I opened my heart to Christ. After this, I decided to get rid of the altar that we had in our home. My wife and my children also received Christ. From the day I got to know Jesus, I have understood his heart for people. I feel an abundance of joy and peace in Him every day.

In December 2015 my brother called the police, and they came to force me to abandon Christ.  I said I would not give up following him. I told them that I believe in Jesus Christ, and that does no harm to anyone. After a while the police left, but my brother and His family still really hated me for becoming a Christian.

At 7:00 AM on a specific day in February 2017, I was on my way home from a prayer meeting. I drove past my brother’s house on my motorbike, but the road was very bad, so I had to drive slowly. I had two of my daughters - one 12 and the other one 13 years old - with me. Suddenly, my brother came running with a huge knife and tried to kill me. My daughters got so scared; they jumped off the motorbike and ran for their lives. My brother managed to catch me, and he stabbed me in the face, shoulder, and arm with the knife. He almost chipped of my right hand. In the midst of my pain, I heard a voice in my head saying: “Run, run!” I started running with blood gushing out of my body. My brother ran after me, but when he failed to catch up with me, he went back to his home to grab his motorbike. He intended to drive after me to make sure he killed me, but one of his daughters understood what he was up to and managed to hinder him.

My two daughters went home and told my family what had happened. One of my sons then ran and grabbed my bike where I had left it, and he drove around looking for me. As soon as he found me, he called for an ambulance to get me to the hospital which is about 100 kilometers from where I was. When the ambulance arrived, it was 9:00 am, and as soon as they had gotten me into the vehicle, I passed out due to blood loss. They operated me the whole day until 5:00 pm to save my hand. I survived, and so did my arm, but when I woke up, I couldn’t see. Thanks be to God, after three days I got my vision back! I believe that it was the Lord who saved me, as a lot of the people in my village were sure that I would die from the severe injuries. When they heard, one week later, that I was still alive, they couldn’t fathom it. Truly God was the one who helped me. If not for Him, I wouldn’t be alive now, I am so thankful.

When I came back to my village, I started to share to my neighbors about what a mighty God I serve. Many of them received. Today, 20 of the 59 families in our village are followers of Christ. My brother died one year ago. I have forgiven him, and I pray that the Lord will also forgive him of his sin. I also share with his family about the Gospel hoping that also they will receive and get saved. I now know the truth, and I worship the Lord as my Creator and Savior. Hallelujah!
