I NEED A HUG!
Do you know what causes the most suffering in this world? It’s not wars. Not cancer. Not poverty either. It is: Broken family relations. I have no doubt that much more than half of the world’s population live with this kind of hidden pain. It wouldn’t surprise me the least if you’re also one of them.
And it’s everywhere. I was in Vietnam not too long ago, telling young people about God’s plan and intention for family life. How fathers are the number one responsible for making sure there’s enough joy in the family. That there is peace in the house. That everyone can feel safe. Even while I was talking, I could see young people starting to wipe off their tears.
Later, I invited people to come and be embraced and prayed for. People lined up just to have a papa hug. When the lines were finished, a young guy comes towards me, just throwing himself around my neck. His head resting on my shoulder, he simply says: I NEED A HUG. Two seconds break, and he continues: “MY PARENTS JUST SPLIT APART.”

There it is. The hidden, often shame-tainted. pain of a broken family. But you know what: We have found medicine that works for such pain. I have seen it over and over again. That medicine is not pills or stimulus. It is, first and foremost, truth. Spoken truth. Like this young boy, who simply spoke out his heart: “I need a hug. My parents just split apart.”
In such a time we need hugs. Not only one, but many. We need someone who will listen with love to how our life feels. We need our pain to be seen, somehow. We need compassion. The problem is that the volume of this kind of hurt and suffering is totally overwhelming. The need for love is more than we can provide. We need more. Something bigger and more powerful. We need – God. We simply need the True and Loving God. He has an endless capacity to heal broken hearts. To hug and love and restore. I know him. I have my own experience, as have many of us in the KingLove team who publish what you read here. Be free to contact any one of us and share your story, your situation. Allow us to listen with respect and to give you what we ourselves have received from the loving Father in Heaven. You are invited!
